GoT S8 rewrite Chapter 3

I do not own the rights to any characters or the GoT universe.

Dany has flown for a few days now. She tells the new members of her family to wait for her in the Dothraki Sea, and that she’ll be back soon. She didn’t want people to know that she found six more dragons yet, so she only takes Drogon with her for the remainder of the journey East.

She sees Dragons Bay and the three large cities around it; Astapor, Yunkai, and Meereen. She tells Drogon to fly lower. She wants her people to see that she’s here. She flys over each of the cities, and when she gets to Meereen, she lands on top of the Great Pyramid where she once lived and ruled from. Drogon lets out a mighty roar and everyone in the streets start chanting “Mhysa.”

She jumps off Drogon and slides down the to what was formerly her balcony. Before she could open the doors, they open for her. “My Queen” said a familiar voice. “Daario” Dany said. They pull each other into a long hug and he kisses her on the lips. “I have missed you” Dany says. “I’m glad to see you, but why are you back so soon? I thought I wouldn’t see you until you took the Seven Kingdoms” says Daario. “Did something happen?” Dany response, “yes and no. We defeated the Night King and now we are preparing for the final attack on Kings Landing. I just wanted to check-in and see how the people here are doing without their Queen. I have a lot to tell you as well.” They go inside and Daario says “before anything, why are your eyes violet now?” Dany walks over to the bedroom mirror and there she was, her eyes were indeed violet. She tells him of her trip to Valyria and of how she found more dragons and her crown. “I think this crown is turning me into the person I’m supposed to be. I know that doesn’t make sense, but that’s the only way I can explain it” she said. They sit down and she tells Daario all about the Battle of Winterfell and how she lost Viserion and Jorah. She asks him about how Dragons Bay is doing and he only has good news to share. It is peaceable. The economy is booming. Everyone seems happy. They had mild resistance after Dany left but he and the Second Sons took care of it before it got out of hand. After their talk of politics is over there was an awkward pause. “So have you found anyone worthy to marry yet? To be husband to the Queen?” Daario asks. She knew this was coming. “Maybe. I-I am not sure yet. I asked but I haven’t received an answer yet. I hope you’re not still waiting for me” she jokes, trying to lighten the mood, but Daario answers seriously. “I’ll always wait for you. I still am in love with you and my offer of marriage still stands. My feelings toward you will never change.” “I thought after my Khal died, I’d never be happy with anyone else. That I’d never love anyone else. I have realized that I was wrong, and that my heart does have love for someone else. But that person was and is not you. I value the person you are and everything you have done for me and everything that you continue to do for my reign. You are one of my closest friends and I’ll always care for you. The person I love is Jon Snow, who was once the bastard of Winterfell, the Lord Commander of the Nights Watch, and proclaimed King of the North. He makes me feel alive again and gives me a purpose. I want you to be happy and one day I hope to attend your wedding here in Meereen” Daenerys said. “No one will ever compare to you, though” Daario said with the saddest eyes Dany ever saw. “Then stop comparing and start seeing the potential other people have” she said in a gentle voice. Dany stands up after a few moments and asks “is it okay if I stay here the night? I have a long flight tomorrow and I could use a good nights rest.” Daario says “these quarters are yours. They always have been and always will be. No one has slept in your bed since you went West.” “Where do you sleep then?” Dany questions. “I have the second best living quarters in Meereen, right below you. I always want you to feel welcome here. That’s why I never changed the room.” Daario said. He then asked “do you want dinner? I can have someone bring you up a meal.” Dany thought about it, she was hungry but she had a better idea. “Let’s go find somewhere to eat in the market. I’d like to interact with the people. I think it would do some good for them to see their Queen, too” she said.

They exit the Great Pyramid with three Second Sons members flanking them. “There is this inn nearby that has the best wine and best pie” Daario said excitingly. The common people approach them all night giving their respects, good fortune, and gifts. Daario and Dany talk all night about Dragons Bay and it warms Danys heart. She was having a fun night out in the market, which never happens. She almost forgot who she was and what she’s preparing.

Some hours pass and they head back to the Great Pyramid. Daario kisses Dany’s hand goodnight. She goes to her quarters, has her handmaids draw her a warm-scented bath and she reminisces on the time she liberated all three of these cities and how she met all of her best friends here–Missandei, Grey Worm, Tyrion, and Daario. She’ll have to bring them back here one day to visit. She gets out of the bath and walks over to her bed. As soon as she closes her eyes, she falls asleep. She hasn’t been in a bed in over a week.

The next morning, she wakes up early and already finds breakfast for her on a cart outside her door. She eats quickly and gets dressed. There is a knock on her door and Dany yells “come in!” “I came to say goodbye, I thought you’d be leaving early” Daario said. “yes, I’m about to leave right now” says Dany and her heart breaks a little when she sees his eyes. He follows her to the balcony and Dany calls for Drogon. “I’ll come visit again once I take the Iron Throne. In the meantime, please write to me. Not only to keep up with what’s going on here but with you as well. I promise I’ll always write you back.” Daario nods and says “I would like that. Maybe one day I can visit you in the Red Keep…..as a friend?” “Yes, please do. Perhaps I’ll have one of my dragons come pick you up” Dany says with a laugh. Just then, Drogon comes flying in and lands on top of the Great Pyramid once more and Dany starts climbing. She jokingly says ” You know, someone should put in stairs here for me.” Daario says “I’ll make sure it’s done before the next time to arrive.” Dany smiles at him one last time. Her life would have been easy and great if she stayed there in Meereen. She feels bad about breaking his heart for the second time, but she must achieve her destiny. She never liked easy anyways. Dany climbs on Drogon and they take off. Daario watches them until they disappear, admiring their beauty.

She heads back to the Dothraki Sea to get her other children and the head back to Winterfell.

——

Arya has been in the city for a day now as a young, tall, beautiful woman. She imagined that this is how Sansa must feel all the time, so many looks from both men and women. There is one woman, though, who can’t keep her eyes off her. She is dressed how Arya prefers to dress. She has another pretty woman sitting on her lap, but all she can do is stare at Arya, smile, and drink her ale. She then slaps the woman’s bottom and tells her to get up. Arya then watches her stand up and walk over to her. The closer she got, Arya was able to see her better. She had brown hair to her collarbones and it was wavy. A stern face, too. Her looks were plain, nothing stood out about her, but you could tell her personality and confidence made up for it. The woman started talking “I notice you keep staring at me. Do you like what you see?” Arya is trying very hard not to blush and she doesn’t know why. She manages to say “I am only staring at you because you keep staring at me, and I’m not… interested.” “Oh but I think you are” the woman said as she leans in to put her arm around Arya. She steps back quickly and clutches her sword, not really understanding why because she doesn’t feel threatened–only nervous. The woman eyes go to Needle. “A girl like you knows how to use that?” she said playfully, and Arya, sensing humor replies back with “Yeah, better than most people and probably better than you.” Arya draws her sword and walks outside. The plain woman follows her and draws her sword as well. “Show me then” she said. Fighting was fun for the both of them, they knew this was the best way they could get to know someone.

Arya, still not used to her body yet, gets disarmed first. The woman boasts of her small victory, but before she knows it, Arya disarms her. Arya continues to disarm her. The woman is not used to being defeated, but she isn’t frustrated or angry. She’s impressed. She invited Arya back into the inn for a drink, and Arya follows.

“So what’s your name anyways?” Arya asked. It seems like she paused a second to long to think about that question. “Asha” she finally said. “What is yours?” Arya says the first name that comes to mind, “my name is Catelyn.” “Aye, well Catelyn, you are one of the best fighters I’ve ever seen. Maybe even thee best. Where did you learn all that?” Asha asked. “My fathers and brothers taught me. I also trained with some Braavosi men” Arya smiles and takes another drink. “My father taught me too. I always thought I was a good fighter until you. I usually beat any man that raises his sword against me” Asha says. “Well, I’m not a man” Arya replied. “Thank the gods for that” said Asha as she touched Arya’s leg. Arya let her. They talk all night about their travels without giving to much away about themselves. Arya was feeling a lot more confident. She wasn’t drunk, but the drink helped. Asha was easy to talk to, too. They both started lightly flirting with each other and one thing led to another and they end up in Asha’s room. This was obviously Arya’s first time with a woman, but it just felt right to her. When she slept with Gendry before the Battle of Winterfell, she wondered if she did something wrong or if he did, because she was left unsatisfied. Now she knew why. A part of her always knew. She didn’t understand why people loved having sex, but she understands everything now. They take their time and explore every inch of each other.

A few hours pass and they are laying in bed enjoying conversation. Asha gets up to go relieve herself and Arya gets up to snoop around her room. She could tell Asha was hiding something, just as she herself was hiding something. Arya had her eye on a written unsealed scroll on the table in the corner since she entered the room. She hurries over to read it and it says:

“My dearest friend,

I have arrived in the city. No one will know who I am, I’m sure. All of our other friends are waiting a few miles out from Blackwater Bay. I will let you know if I found out anything.

-Y” and there was a small, crude sketch of a dragon and of a kraken next to each other in the lower left hand corner. This was someone iron born.

Asha comes back and Arya doesn’t try to hid that she just read the scroll. She holds it up and says calmly “what’s your real name?” Asha looks panicked. Arya continues “don’t worry, we fight for the same queen. I’m here on her behalf too.” Asha still is unsure and paces back and fourth in the room and she finally says “I’m Yara Greyjoy, Lord Reaper of the Iron Islands.” Aryas mouth opens. “Your brother was a good man. I want you to know my family looked after him like he was one of us. He fought and protected us bravely until the very end. Sansa and I did place his ashes in the crypt at Winterfell. His statue is being made as we speak” Arya said with sorrow. “Wait. Us? Winterfell? Sansa and you? Don’t tell me…” Yara said. “I’m Arya Stark of Winterfell” Arya cut her off. Now Yara’s mouth opened. “Oh yeah, the training I had in Braavos…” Arya rips off her mask and turns back into herself. “I trained as a Faceless Man. This is me” she said nervously. “Thank you for your words. I never got to know the real Theon, but I am glad all of you did. He was a Stark, I have no doubt, and his conscious of backstabbing Robb and watching your sister be beaten by Ramsey weighed heavy on him. I hope he got the redemption he needed and deserved. I’d like to visit Winterfell one day and pay my respects to him.” Yara paused. “I’ve heard things about the Many Faced God and the Faceless Men, but I had no idea it was real. How did you end up over there?” “It’s a really long story for another day” Arya said. “Another day you shall tell me then” Yara said. Yara walks closer to Arya and kisses her neck and says “Daenerys told me of your bravery and skill when she came to visit me at the Iron Islands. I knew I wanted to meet you on that alone. Had no idea you’d be so beautiful either.” Arya begins to get distracted and says “I need to get into the Red Keep and pose as Qyburn. Do you have any ideas of how I can do that?” Yara kisses her neck again and pushes her on the bed. “We can deal with it tomorrow” she whispered in her ear. “Tomorrow then” Arya confirmed and gave in.

——

Back in Winterfell, things were coming along nicely. Preparations have been set for the month long journey south and even though it’s been shy of just two weeks, the rebuilding of Winterfell and the surrounding areas are coming along well. Bran is waiting outside again. Another visitor is about to arrive.

Meera Reed walks through the gates of Winterfell. She spots Bran and runs over to him to give him a hug. It is difficult for him to feel the feelings of a normal person, but he is happy to see her. “I’m so glad you’re alright. I can’t believe the Night King and his army are gone. As soon as I got the news at Greywater Watch, I came straight here. I actually have a gift for the Queen, but you know that already I’m sure. Can you take me to her?” said Meera. “Look up” Bran says. A few short seconds pass and there she is. Dany on the back of Drogon with 6 other dragons flanking her–three on each side with Drogon at the point. Meera falls backwards. She’s never seen dragons before. “Follow me” Bran said.

Dany and them land where Rhaegal is lounging. He makes purring sounds as he is glad to see his brother and meet his new brothers and sisters. The three young ones go to sleep right away and the 5 larger ones relax in the snow around the babies to keep them warm. Dany slides off Drogon and makes her way to the castle. She still can’t believe that she has eight dragons. That’s more than anyone, ever. All of Winterfell’s eyes were on her. Tyrion, Grey Worm, and Missandei greet her. “I’m glad you are back, your Grace” Missandei says. “Why are your eyes violet? How did you get all those other dragons?” Tyrion asked, most wasting any time cutting to the chase. “Let’s all speak somewhere else, Tyrion, call a council meeting, please. Grey Worm, help him gather the others” Dany requested.

Meera enters the room with Bran and he says “this is Meera Reed, daughter of Howland Reed of Greywater Watch, the southern most alliance of the North. She could be useful on the small council.” Dany says “Greywater Watch. I hear that castle is never in the same place.” “Yes. Yes your Grace. I think your dragons are magnificent” Meera spews out. Sensing her anxiousness, Dany exchanges a polite smile and she asks for everyone to be seated. Tyrion, Missandei, Grey Worm, Varys, Jon, Sansa, Bran, Meera, Gendry, Brienne, Tormund, and Jamie all take a seat around the table. Daenerys tells them of the work she has Yara and Arya working on for her in the meantime. Once Dany was done sharing that story, Sansa asked the question everyone was thinking and repeating what Tyrion said outside, “but where did the other dragons come from? Are they all going with us to Kings Landing? Why do you look different? Your eyes are violet and your hair is almost silver.” Dany didn’t even notice her hair. She was so consumed by the eye color, she didn’t even notice her hair changed at all. Daario mustn’t have noticed either, the eyes are the most noticeable I guess. It WAS more silver. It was really shiny too. It complimented her Valyrian Steel crown. “Other dragons?” Jon asked. “Did you not hear and see them all fly in with her? It was kind of hard to miss” Tormund says. Jon walks briskly to the window and looks at Dany in disbelief. “How?” says Jon. She tells them everything. About the volcano, Drogon, how she found them, how she found her crown, and her detour to Meereen. Tyrion is especially pleased to hear how well Dragons Bay is doing. “All 8 dragons will come to Kings Landing with us. Enough of storytelling though. Grey Worm, you will lead the army at first light” Dany said and Grey Worm nodded in response. Missandei squeezes his hand. “Everyone else here who wants to go will fly down with Jon and I” says Dany and she quickly glances to Jon. “There isn’t much left to do then. We will await notice from Arya and Yara to plan any further” she continues. Dany dismisses the room and everyone besides Meera and Jon leave. Meera asks Dany if she could speak with her. “Of course” Dany said, feeling it was of importance. “I have something that I think is yours” Meera said. Dany glanced at Meeras bag that she pulled to the front of her body so she could reach inside it. Something was glowing and pulsating, but Dany was sure she was the only one who could see this from whatever power her crown bestowed on her. Meera pulls out a beautiful slender sword. It was Valyrian Steel with a gold handle that was lined with rubies. There was a flame engraved on the pommel. Daenerys looks at it curiously as it pulsates stronger. She gasped. “Dark Sister. How do you have this?” Dany said amazed. “When I went beyond the wall with Bran, we visited the former three-eyed-raven whose name was Brynden Rivers, also known as the Bloodraven. According to texts, he was the last person to have Dark Sister. When he was exiled to join the Nights Watch, he took it with him. One day, he went beyond the Wall to do some scouting and he never came back. People thought he died and that he was buried under the snow with the sword. Bran and I know that is not the case. Bloodraven became the three-eyed raven and he did in fact have Dark Sister with him still. One day when Bran was training, we were attacked. I didn’t have my weapon on me, but I noticed a sword propped up on the weirwood tree. I grabbed it and fought with it, not knowing until way later what this was. So I present this to you, my Queen” Meera said while she bent her knee and held out the sword. Daenerys grabbed the sword and begun doing tricks with it that she didn’t even know she could do. “You know, it is said this sword was crafted by a woman and was made for a woman” said Dany. She throws the sword up in the air and spins across the room to catch it without looking at it. “I think this heirloom is enchanted like my crown.” Jon couldn’t help but notice how graceful she looked with that sword in her hand. Meera said “I’m happy you are pleased with it” and she exists the room. Jon and Daenerys are finally alone. Jon did a lot of thinking in her absence and he walks over to her and says “I’ve missed you. I’m glad you didn’t get hurt over there.” He hugs her and she hugs him back. Dany pulls back to look him in the eyes and says “I’ve missed you too.” Jon does something that Dany thought he’d never do to her again. He leans in and kisses her for a long time. Jon takes her hand and he guides her to his chambers where they lock themselves up for a long time.

Jon says “These violet eyes make my knees weak.” Danys grins and says “come on, I want to see what my sword can do.” They go outside and they see Brienne and Tormund already practicing with each other. She walks next to them with Jon and draws her sword. While they are all better than she is, she holds her own. Dany stands there concentrating on each persons movement and studies it. Learns from it. They practice for a while when Drogon popped in her head and says “come here. Bring Missandei and Sansa with you.” They were both standing close by already watching her practice. Dany has always been a role model to Missandei and Sansa is starting to feel the same way. Little do they know that Dany looks up to the both of them as well. Missandei and Sansa have grown closer to each other in Dany’s absence. They’d even consider themselves friends at this point. Dany walks over to them and says “follow me. Drogon wants to tell us something.” Dany walks off and the other two follow with Jon joining, all exchanging glances of confusion with those words. They get to the field where the dragons stay and Drogon is standing on all fours with a large dragon on each side. Drogon says in Dany’s head “these dragons need riders, don’t you agree?” Dany smiles because she knows exactly what is coming. The large black and white dragon steps forward to Missandei and kneels her head down and then nudges Missandei’s arm. Missandei takes her hand and pets the dragons head. “What does this mean?” she said and looks at Dany. “You’re her rider” Dany said. “It’s almost sort of funny” Missandei says. “On Naath, they are known for their butterflies. They are large and beautiful, but they carry a disease called Butterfly Fever. The people of Naath are immune to the illness, but outsiders are unlikely o survive it. The illness can be transferred by any butterfly, but the ones with black and white wings are the ones that most likely carry it. It’s almost like this dragon was meant for me” Missandei doesn’t hesitate, she climbs onto the dragon. She’s a lot braver than they all thought. Growing up with Daenarys though, no one was surprised. Then the large red and silver one approaches Sansa. The dragon bows her head and tries to nudge her but Sansa stumble backwards. “Why is she coming close to me like this? How–” Dany knows what she’s about to ask and intervenes. “You don’t have to be a Targaryen to be a rider. You only need the blood of old Valyria in your veins and you need to be worthy. I understand your father was of the First Men, but your mothers side is where it comes from. The Tully’s were thought to be of the First Men too, however, during the conquest and reign of Aegon the Conqueror, the Tully’s were loyal to the Targaryens. Our blood mixed with each other through marriages and bastards between people of old Valyria, Targaryen’s included, and the people of the Riverlands. The blood found it’s way to your mother and to all of her children. You and Arya were deemed worthy to be dragonriders.” “What about Bran?” Sansa asked. “Bran is the three-eyed raven. He cannot be a rider. I am sure if your other two brothers were alive, we’d have dragons for them as well” Dany said. She turns her attention to Missandei. “It was common for people of Naath and people from Valyria to trade with one another. Even after the Doom, some Valyrian’s fled to Naath for safety. It runs through your veins too.” Sansa works up the courage and pets the dragon on her head. After a few minutes, Sansa was able to climb up onto the back of her dragon. Jon goes over to Rhaegal and mounts him, and Dany climbs onto Drogon. “Let’s go for a ride, shall we?” she said. Dany takes off first with Jon right behind her, then the other two join. Jon can’t believe his sisters get to experience this with him. The sight of Sansa actually enjoying herself for the first time in years makes him happy. He flys ahead and shows off by flying upside down, turning sharply, diving down and coming back up very quickly. Missandei is enjoying herself too. This was the first time she’s seen a genuine smile on Missandei’s face. Missandei thinks about how grateful she is to have met Daenerys in this moment, and that she can not wait to tell Grey Worm. Dany focuses on Drogon now. “So if the larger dragons have riders, who will ride the young ones?” she asked. “I think you already know that answer” said Drogon. Dany does know, and now she feels a pit in her stomach because she doesn’t want to accept the reality. She’ll deal with it after the war.

They begin to fly back to Winterfell and all of them fly low over the city. Seeing Sansa on the back of a dragon next to the Queen was a sight the Northmen will never forget. They’ll place it in history books and write songs about her. The whole city bends their knee to Dany, Jon, Sansa, and Missandei. They are the most powerful people in the world.

They all dismount their dragons and Danys asks Missandei and Sansa if they’d like to name their dragons. “They are still my children and I’m still their mother, but I want you both to feel like they are apart of you too. Missandei is the first one to talk. “I would like to name her Visenya, after Visenya Targaryen–the sister-wife of Aegon the Conqueror. I remember reading about her in books when I was little and she was always my favorite.” Dany says “her name is Visenya then.” Dany turns to Sansa now and she says “when I was younger, not many people were kind to me. When I lost my family and was trapped in Kings Landing, I was lost and alone until the Tyrell’s came to the capital. They were my friends and the only people who I could trust. The Queen of Thorns was like another grandmother to me. She always told me the truth and protected me. I would like to name her Olenna.” “May she Rest in Peace. Lady Olenna was one of my dear friends too.” Dany says as she pats the dragons head. “Missandei, could you please teach Sansa the commands?” Dany added. “Yes, your Grace” Missandei said. Sansa and Missandei stay behind with their dragons while Jon and Dany walk to the castle. Tyrion and Grey Worm come walking fast towards them and Tyrion asked “what’s going on?” “I think you should go talk to them yourselves” Dany said with amusement. Her and Jon continue to walk to the castle and just before they entered the gates, she looks back and sees them both talk excitingly to Tyrion and Grey Worm. Jon and Dany spent the rest of the day by each other’s side genuinely enjoying each other’s presence.

Winterfell has a feast on the night before they all leave for Kings Landing, as the new fishing route is proving to be very successful. Brienne and Tormund are still getting along very well and they sit side-by-side. Missandei and Grey Worm are making good conversation. Sansa and Tyrion are discussing something Tyrion read in a book last night. Bran, Meera, and Gendry have their own conversation going, one that Bran is actually actively participating in. They both tell Gendry about their travels beyond The Wall and Gendry tells them of his terrifying experience beyond The Wall. Meera and Gendry eat each other’s words up and listen to one another very carefully. They have an undeniable connection, and both Dany and Jon observe this as they sit head of the table. “What do you think of me legitimizing Gendry and giving the Baratheon’s the Stormlands back?” Dany asked Jon. “I think if anyone deserved it, it would be him. Gendry has been loyal to the North and to you since the beginning. He’s smart, and a good fighter. He’d do a hell of a job ruling the Stormlands in your name” Jon said. Dany stands up in the hall and that gesture was enough to silence everyone. Dany signals Jon to stand up too, and he stands shoulder-to-shoulder with her. “Gendry, please come forward” said Dany. Gendry looks nervous as he approached their table. “I, Daenerys Targaryen, first of her name, Queen of the 7 kingdoms, Breaker of Chains, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Mhysa of Dragons Bay, the unburnt, and Mother of Dragons, name you Gendry Baratheon, Lord of the Stormlands and Warden of the East.” Daenerys and Jon raise their tankards together to Gendry and the rest of the hall follows. Gendry starts laughing because he can’t believe it. A bastard from flea bottom, now a lord and warden. He thanks the both of them repeatedly and takes a sit back down by Meera.

Jamie is talking to the pretty Wildling again. Her name is Octavia, and she has long, black, curly hair with dark green eyes. Dany heard she is good with a sword. They haven’t stopped talking to each other since Jamie arrived in Winterfell. Tyrion looks over in his direction and nods in approval. She’s much kinder and prettier than Cersei. Jamie and Octavia move to sit next to Tyrion and Sansa and they all begin a pleasant conversation.

That night, Dany fell asleep in Jon’s room with him and Ghost slept at her feet. If you were to walk in the halls of the castle that night, you’d hear sounds of love coming from not only Jon’s room, but Brienne’s, Grey Worms, Jamie’s, and Gendry’s.

The following morning Dany says goodbye to Grey Worm and the other army officials as they start to migrate south. The elderly and young children spent the two weeks prior sewing together as many blankets and better tents for the army so they would stay warm for the journey. This leaves Jon, Daenerys, Sansa, Tyrion, Missandei, Tormund, Brienne, Meera, Bran, Gendry, Jamie, and Octavia at Winterfell. A few Unsullied and Dothraki stay behind to stand guard. Brienne and Tormund spend the next few days horseback riding and hunting. Jamie and Octavia are wrapped up in one another arms telling stories and drinking. Tyrion and Sansa debate philosophy. Missandei, Dany, and Sansa spend their evenings sewing new outfits for their long journey to Kings Landing and for the battle. Sansa and Missandei didn’t have anything suitable for a long flight on the back of a dragon. Sansa made a fitted black leather top and pants. It’s looked similar to Dany’s, only it didn’t have flames on it. She imprinted a large direwolf on the bust of her top and added the Targaryen symbol on each shoulder. She makes boots that come up to her knees that match the color of her hair and her dragon. Her outfit symbolizes her own House, alliance with House Targaryen, and her mothers house, House Tully. She also crafts a belt to hold the Valyrian Steel knife Arya gave to her. She makes sure to ask Brienne to show her how to use it and basic self-defense skills throughout the week. Sansa refuses to be helpless anymore. She doesn’t know what could happen at Kings Landing.

Missandei’s outfit isn’t a two piece like Sansa’s and Dany’s–its a black body suit and has the sides of the midsection cut out. There is a red Targaryen symbol on the left breast. She made grey combat boots and with black stitching, she sewed in little butterflies on the heels. She asked Gendry to make her a spear of which she created a strap for so she could carry in on her back while riding Visenya. She and Grey Worm practice in the courtyard many hours out of the day.

Daenerys didn’t need to change much about her outfit. She did make knee high boots like Sansa’s, only hers were black with red stitching. She also made a cape. It was dark red that matched the color of her flames that was on her sleeves and pants. Lastly, she made a simple black belt for Dark Sister. She engraved outlines of 9 dragons on it. She wanted to include Viserion.

This was a good bonding experience for the three of them. They were all becoming best friends. They were doing what most young women were doing their age.

There was still a few days before they had to leave and Dany was getting restless. She goes over to Jon and asks him if he’d like to take a trip with her. Dany goes to her chambers to grab a few things. She suddenly hears a commotion outside. Without thinking, she grabs Dark Sister and runs to see where the noise is coming from. There are at least 30 men attacking the remaining people of Winterfell. Missandei and Sansa move behind Daenerys and Jon moves quickly in front of Dany. Brienne, Tormund, Jamie, Octavia, Gendry, and Meera all show up seconds later. Jamie says “if you’re smart, you’ll leave.” One of the men, presumed to be the leader, says in response “Cersei sends her regards to the usurper and her treasonous brothers” Dany notices they’re wearing The Golden Company’s logo. They all start attacking. Tyrion comes out from behind Dany and takes both Missandei and Sansa’s arms to take them to safety. He tries to get Dany to go with him but she refuses. She draws Dark Sister and takes a deep breath and charges her first victim. Some of the Dothraki and Unsullied arrived by now. One of the unsullied yells “protect your queen!” A few of them fall in a few minutes. These were talented fighters. Jon is fighting four men at once and as soon as Dany kills her target, she runs over to help Jon. She’s able to kill one of them right away as they didn’t notice her, and that allowed Jon to kill one of them. The remaining two split their attention between Dany and Jon. Brienne and Tormund are fighting next to each other and are standing their ground. Jamie and Octavia are making their way through their attackers too, but slowly. Jamie gets disarmed and a man is about to swing at him when Brienne stabs him in the back and kicks Jamie’s sword back over to him. “Thank you” Jamie said appreciatively. Brienne nods. He goes to help Octavia who is fighting three men. Brienne turns around and makes her way back over towards Tormund killing two people in her path. Dany finally kills the man she’s been fighting and Jon kills three more. The Unsullied and Dothraki have now made a safety circle around their queen and Jon. A few attackers make it through and Jon squeezes Danys hand quickly before they both charge at them. The Golden Company is putting up a strong fight. If this is what they’re up against at Kings Landing, they have one hell of a battle in store. Dany gets knocked to the ground and her opponent raises his sword. Gendry and Meera are struggling heavily with their opponents. Jon starts to run over to Dany but he won’t make it over in time. Then they hear two dragons roar. It’s Missandei and Sansa on the backs of Visenya and Olenna. They say “Dracarys” at same time and the Golden Company gets lit up. Dany and Jon get caught in the crossfire. They to get burned. Everyone else on Danys side moves out of the way in time. Their attackers fall to the ground in flames while Dany and Jon both walk out of the fire together, unharmed. Jon wasn’t ever sure if he could survive fire since his mother was a Stark and his looks take after the Stark side, but there he stands next to Dany. Danys clothes didn’t burn at all. “It must be this crown again” she thought. Jon on the other hand was completely naked. Dany takes off her cloak and hands it to him. “Here. I’ve been in your situation a few times” Dany jokes. She yells “thank you” up to the new dragon riders. Then she hears Drogon in her head “myself and the other dragons flew a bit west. There were more troops ready to attack Winterfell. We took care of them.” Cersei must have known that the army would march in front of them. After making sure everyone was okay, she goes back to her room to take a few deep breaths and finishes packing. She heads over to the field where Drogon and Rhaegal are waiting. Jon is dressed again and is already on the back of Rhaegal. “So, where are we going?” Jon asked. “Somewhere peaceful” Dany said. Dany then spoke directly to Drogon and said “tell the other the dragons to spread out over the perimeter of Winterfell’s walls. A young dragon is to be partnered up with a larger one. Protect Winterfell at all costs if any attackers come back in our absence.” Drogon acknowledges with a rumble. The six dragons made their way to the outside of the walls and spread out. Then Dany and Jon take off south for a few hours and land in a heavily wooded area. They dismount and Dany tells Drogon to stay close by and not to fly off anywhere so they can remain unseen. He and Rhaegal find a nice spot to take a nap in. She turns to Jon and says “follow me” and they hike deeper into the woods for a few minutes. A lagoon appeared. There were dozens of waterfalls surrounded by a dense canopy and massive boulders. It was cool out as it was winter, but there was steam coming from the water. Dany undresses completely and shoves her belongings in her bag and starts swimming over towards one of the waterfalls. “Come on!” she yells to Jon. He undressed and starts swimming behind her. They’re right outside the waterfall now. She grabs his hand and pulls him around to the side as they slip past the veil. The water is so hot and it feels amazing to the both of them. They water would probably burn a person who wasn’t a Targaryen. There is a cave that is covered in flowers, moss, vines, and beautiful boulders. There were flowers growing in the water too, which made it smell enticing. Jon reminisces about the last time he was in a cave with Ygritte. He didn’t think he’d ever love anyone more, but he does.

Dany pulls out a blanket from her bag and lays it on a boulder that has a thick and comfortable bed of moss covering it and then dives deep into the pool from the rock. “How did you find this place?” Jon asked once she came up from under the water. “When I was traveling to Valyria from the Iron Islands, Drogon and I took a break close by here. He went to hunt for food and I went exploring. I came across this place and I knew immediately I wanted to bring you here” said Dany. Then Jon noticed the walls were glowing with purple, blue, and green crystals. This was the most beautiful place either of them have ever been in. Jon dives in and starts swimming with Dany. They kiss and lock each other in their arms in the warm water.

When they get out of the water, they go lay on the bed of moss where Dany put the blanket. They hear two loud slashes outside and Dany hears Drogon say “why didn’t you tell us there was warm water?” Dany laughed out loud. She responds back with “sorry, I hope you two enjoy yourselves out there.” “What was that?” Jon asked. “Drogon and Rhaegal are having their own fun” she replied to Jon. This makes the both of them laugh now. Dany and Jon spend all night talking to each other again. As Dany was about to fall asleep laying on Jon’s chest, he sits up and starts digging through his bag. Dany is wide awake now. Jon pulls out a beautiful necklace. It’s Drogon. If you were to witness Drogon flying from above him, that’s what it looked like. It had a silver chain attached to it. “I had this made for you while you were gone” Jon says and presents it to Dany. Dany thinks it’s the best piece of jewelry she ever had. Jon moves around her and puts it on. He whispered “you’re so beautiful” in her ear. It gives her goosebumps. He grabs her face and looks her in the eye and says “I think we should get married. I am in love you. You’re my Queen and I don’t want anyone else” Dany locks her fingers in Jon’s hair and says “I love you too.” They wrap themselves up in each other for the rest of the night. They stay in that cave for two days, focusing only on each other.

——

Arya and Yara have decided that Yara will wait outside the city’s wall with Sandor and the direwolf pack. It would be to risky to stay in the city, as someone from Euron’s fleet could recognize her if they visited the inn where they were staying. Yara and The Hound get along well. This surprised Arya because he doesn’t like anyone. However, he’s agreed to take her in his camp and practice fighting with her. Yara told Arya that she is determined to be the one to kill Euron.

She helped Arya to come up with a plan on how to get in the Red Keep, and the plan is about to be executed. She goes to the Red Keep at night and is able to flirt her way passed the guards while wearing her face. She knows she has to be quick and be quiet. She remembers exactly where the Hand’s living quarters are from when she was here with her father so long ago. She moves in the shadows past several guards and soon enough she arrives at the door to Qyburn’s bedroom. She has to pick the lock carefully and quietly. It takes her a few minutes to unlock it because she didn’t want to make any noise. She got inside just in time because a Queens Guard was about to walk by. Qyburn is sound asleep on his bed. Arya doesn’t make a sound as she approaches him. She doesn’t want to stab him because it’s possible he might scream. She straddles him and as he’s about to wake up, Arya has snapped his neck. She drags him off the bed, lays him on a blanket, and begins to cut off his face. Once she’s peeled his face off, she puts it on, and start chopping off body parts to burn his body in the fire place. She can’t just drag a dead body out of the Red Keep. Once she’s done burning his body, she burns the blanket she cut him up on and cleans the floor where she laid him. Arya grabs one of his robes out of the wardrobe and lays in his bed. She surprisingly falls right to sleep. The power a beautiful woman has over men is outrageous.

The next morning, Qyburn’s squire wakes Arya up. “Sir, the Queen wishes to speak with you right away. She’s in the Throne Room.” Arya gets up and walks down to the Throne Room. There is some fear running through her body, as she hopes Cersei won’t be able to notice anything different about Qyburn. She enters the Throne Room and there she is. Cersei is sitting on the Iron Throne. “Good. You’re awake. I need you to meet the people of The Golden Company by Blackwater Bay. My elephants have just arrived. I need you to figure out where to hide them until Daenerys and the Stark’s get here. If they have scouts lurking, I don’t want them to know what we have. 10,000 more troops have arrived too, but spread them out all over the capital. I don’t want them knowing our real numbers either” Cersei said. “Yes your Grace” said Arya. Panic engulfs her body. Where the hell was she going to stick a bunch of giant elephants and 10,000 troops? She makes her way down through the Red Keep when she remembered a time when she was chasing a black cat when she was learning how to dance. She found the skulls of all the past Targaryen dragons in the cellars of the Red Keep. The room was endless and there were high ceilings, it should be able to hold the elephants. She also remember seeing a secret entrance to the cellar from Blackwater Bay.

Once Arya is outside, she meets the members of the Golden Company and directs them to the entrance of the cellar. There were two dozen giant elephants to unload from boats. The elephants were as big as Daenerys dragons. They each were fitted with armor and had long, sharp tusks. These creatures could do serious damage on the ground. She then goes outside and puts some of the troops in the Golden Company’s main camp, some on Euron’s fleet, and some inside the city. Arya spends the rest of her days disguised listening in on conversations and periodically leaving the castle to visit Sandor and Yara. Her and Yara send out their first raven (they burned the other one) saying they have found each other and that Qyburn is dead. Arya writes to her that Cersei has found war elephants and an additional 10,000 troops.

Jon and Daenerys get back to Winterfell the night before the rest of them are to ride to Kings Landing. Daenerys, Sansa, and Missandei spend that night together celebrating Dany’s engagement and braiding each other hair for the journey. Missandei did Dany’s hair in intricate braids that are pinned all in her hair. Dany mimics the look on Sansa, then Dany and Sansa do small, tight braids in Missandei’s hair and pull it up into a high pony. All three of them end up falling asleep in Dany’s room gossiping. Jon and Tyrion both peer into Dany’s bedroom as they were looking for her and Sansa and they see them all sleeping in Dany’s bed. Jon and Tyrion decide to drink together with the remaining people on their last night.

The next morning, Tormund and Brienne ride with Jon, Meera and Gendry ride with Dany, Tyrion with Sansa, and Jamie and Octavia with Missandei. They all fly high up into the sky together and it would have been a sight to see if they could be seen. They met up with the troops two and a half weeks from Kings Landing and that’s when Dany got her first raven from Arya.

Chapter 4: the Battle of Kings Landing will come in approximately 2 weeks. I will do my best to do it justice.

Chapter 2

It’s been a week now since the battle of Winterfell. Dany still hasn’t returned and everyone is concerned of her whereabouts.”We will have to trust our Queen” Grey Worm says to Tyrion, Sansa, and Jon. “She will be back soon.” Missandei smirks. She is the only person that knows where Dany is and what she is doing.

During dinner there are 4 conversations happening simultaneously.

Sansa says to Tyrion “I meant what I said down in the crypt. You really were the best of them.” Tyrion smiles shyly ” We could have made great partners, we do work really well together, you know” claim Tyrion. “I honestly don’t think I could marry ever again.” Sansa pauses to take a sip of her wine. “We do work well together though” she finishes. Tyrion, for the first time in his life, feels himself blush. He’s always admired Sansa for how resilient she is. She was able to survive both Joffery and Ramsey. Not many people could have done what she has done. “She’s very beautiful tonight,” he thought to himself. She’s always been beautiful, but it’s different this time because she’s a woman now. A powerful one making smart decisions for the North, and that’s what Tyrion is attracted to the most, her intellect. He flashes back to conversations he has had with her in the past “I will not have you unless you want me to” he always told her. He glances at her and gives her a warped smile, not knowing what to say.

Sansa has always appreciated Tyrion for what he is– a smart dwarf who likes to drink his wine. He was from a family who hated hers since the beginning of the war. She’s happy that he’s always been different than the rest of them. He was the only part of her young adult life that was bearable. When she first met him, she was a naive young girl who wanted to marry a handsome prince who was big and strong. She now knows that those qualities are not a good enough reason to marry someone. Tyrion is present, loyal, smart, and brave. All the qualities that should matter when choosing someone. Plus, she would have the entire North and Casterly Rock if she decides to marry him again. She glances at him the whole night giving him a half smile and talking strategy for the upcoming war. Tyrion was always a good person to talk to because he really listened. He finds flaws in plans if they are there and offers solutions to those flaws. Sansa valued this. The North will not make anymore mistakes and she knows he is on her side.

The second conversation happening at the right end of the table was between Tormund and Brienne. Tormund is always so nervous around her, everything he says comes out as word vomit. “One time when I was a young lad, I went out hunting by myself and got lost. I wasn’t able to eat because I wasn’t a very good hunter yet, you see. I went 5 whole days without having a good shit!” Brienne makes an unpleasant face and Tormund quickly says “I’m sorry, not a thing to say to a lady.” She sympathizes. She realizes he has been trying hard to impress her, so she says “I have run into that problem many times in my travels too.” Tormund gives a big, goofy grin. So big that he feels like his mouth is about to fall off. Brienne couldn’t help but smile back. His smile was contagious. “Have you traveled a lot then?” says Tormund. “Yes, I’ve seen all of Westeros, besides beyond the Wall” Brienne says matter-of-factly. “Oh you have to see the North, Brie, it’s the second most beautiful thing I ever saw” Tormund responded, looking at Brienne in awe. Knowing how ridiculous he just sounded, he quickly says “how did you become such a great fighter?” Brienne starts telling her stories while Tormund sits there eating the rest of his meal, drinking sour goats milk, and listening happily to every detail the big lady had to say. Brienne wasn’t sure if it was the adrenaline of war, but she was enjoying Tormund’s company more than she thought she would. She doesn’t even care that Jamie has been talking to a beautiful Wildling woman all night.

On the left side of the table sits Missandei and Grey Worm. Grey Worm says “is there anything you want to do after the war is over? Once we have served our Queen, we could go anywhere and do anything we want.” “I just want to go somewhere peaceful, warm, and beautiful” Missandei responded. Grey Worm thinks for a moment “Naath?” “I don’t have any family left there. I do miss it but I have no reason to go back there. Maybe I’d like to visit one day, but I’d like to stay close by to Daenerys. She is my best friend and really my only living family” Missandei said. Grey Worm nods and says “She is my family too.” They eat a few bites when Missandei notices 4 young children picking food off of abandoned plates. “I feel sorry for them, losing their parents in the battle” she said. Her and Grey Worm both understand how they must feel, because they both lost their parents at a young age. He feels a deep sorrow towards them and a pit in his stomach, but he doesn’t let Missandei see his weakness. Later that night, Grey Worm finds them and brings them each a meal.

At a separate table is Jon and Sam. “She wants to get married, Sam” Jon says a little to loudly. “Well do you love her?” Sam responded. “It’s not that easy” followed Jon. “Yes it is. What does your gut say?” said Sam. “I feel like throwing up all the time. It’s all a lot to handle. How did you know that you wanted to marry Gilly?” Jon asked. “Well,” Sam paused, “she makes me happy all the time. I don’t want to be where she’s not. Seeing her face every morning and every night makes me the happiest man alive. She’s a great mother to little Sam. She’s a great cook. She knows how to hunt and how to build, things that most girls don’t know how to do. She’s incredibly strong. Most importantly, she loves me, I am not sure why, but I sure as hell wasn’t going to let her go,” he laughed, “that’s why we got married before the battle. It’s better to die in love than completely alone. I see the way you look at our Dragon Queen and I see the way she looks at you. Worry about the attack on Kings Landing for now, but when it’s all over, make your choice. If you choose what I think you will, ask her yourself this time.” Jon looked at Sam and nodded in agreement.

The romance was heavy in the dinning hall that night.

Arya didn’t take the Kings Road alone. The Hound was riding along side her and he said “I needed out of that shit city” and Arya said, without hesitation, “you think all cities are shit cities.” They had an uneventful trip so far. No one dared to rob or harass them. Everyone recognized The Hound, but mostly, everyone was tired of fighting. The two of them spent most of their days riding hard and fast, as Arya wanted to get there as soon as she could. Arya never mentioned to Sandor why she was going to Kings Landing ahead of the army and he never bothered to ask. Maybe he assumed she was going to kill Cersei. But they trusted each other, so there was no need to discuss what both of their motives were.

Almost two weeks into their trip, Arya and Sandor made camp for the night as usual. They were making great timing, only a few days left of travel. Arya was thinking about how she could kill Qyburn. She asked Bran to warg into a cat before she left to spy on him. He’s always in the Red Keep and he’s always surrounded by The Mountain or many knights. She’ll have to be careful and creative. She knows she can take several men at once but The Mountain and trained knights? She wasn’t sure. Sandor is already asleep and the sound of his snore makes Arya tired and she starts to drift off. There was rustling in the bushes and she stands straight up with her sword in hand. The noise grows louder. She kicks Sandor in the leg and whispers “get up, something is coming.” He wakes up and is obviously annoyed. “What?” he said with an attitude. Arya points with her sword in the direction she hears the noise. He stands up gripping his sword. A huge figure jumps out and lands on Arya. Her face is being licked by a dog so large, it’s the same size as a horse. “Nymeria!” Arya screamed. The last time she saw her was when she was on her way back to Winterfell. “You never left me after all. Six more direwolves follow. “Are these your fucking pets?” Sandor says. “Nymeria used to be, this must be the pack she found” Arya responded. All of a sudden, one of them pounces on The Hound and starts licking him all over. “How ironic, a hound for The Hound” she laughed. They wouldn’t leave their sides all night, almost as if they knew Arya and Sandor will need them in the coming weeks. Arya wonders if Bran helped with this reunion. Either way, she is so happy to see her best friend again, and she swore she saw a genuine smile coming from Sandor when the direwolf that pounced on him curls up next to him and lays her head on his shoulder. Looks like he’ll have a best friend too.

The next morning, Arya wakes up before Sandor and walks off a bit with Nymeria and says “I have no idea if you’re able to understand me, but I could use your help. We are going to be fighting Cersei soon, and she is bound to have something huge prepared.” Nymeria looks at her and bows her head like she understood. Sandor wakes up and one of the other direwolfs carried a fresh dead deer in their mouth to their camp. Sandor cuts off a leg and starts a fire while all the direwolves share the rest of the kill. They finish their breakfast and Nymeria kneels in front of Arya. The direwolf that slept with The Hound kneels in front of him as well. They want them to climb on their backs. Arya walks over to their horses and frees them. “The fuck you doing?” Sandor said. “They want us to ride them instead” said Arya. She climbs on Nymeria’s back. She expected to continue to fight with The Hound about getting on his wolf’s back, but she didn’t have to. He climbed on and the entire pack started to run. This is how they traveled for the next few days. When they would make camp every night, one or two wolves would go off and bring back a kill for dinner and Arya would teach the remaining of the pack commands.

On their last day of travel, they settle into the Kingswood–the woods located directly outside of Kings Landing. “Sandor, I need you to stay here with them until Queen Daenerys comes. I have work to do on her behalf” Arya said. She then whispers to Nymeria “keep an eye on him, will you?” Nymeria whimpers. “It’s okay girl, you’ll see me soon.” Nymeria nudges her with her head and Arya gives her a kiss in return. She says goodbye to The Hound and makes her way to the city wall. The pack howls at the moon. She walks for about an hour and can now see the Capital, she reaches into her book bag and pulls out a face she took from The House of Black and White before she left Braavos. She takes a deep breath, transforms into someone else, and makes her way through the city’s gate. Arya knows she has to be quick, as Daenerys and Jon’s army would already be on their way. She finds an inn to sleep in for the remainder of the night and in the morning she will try to get into the castle.

Daenerys is up in the clouds with Drogon. It’s been two days since she left Winterfell. She has a lot to accomplish before the last battle begins and she keeps running the list over and over in her head. They have been flying nonstop and Dany is sleeping on Drogon’s back when he purrs to wake her up. She opens her eyes and she can see them in the distance–The Iron Islands. They land on the coast of Pyke, and Drogon guards her, unsure if they’ll be welcomed or not.

“I am Daenerys Targaryen, the Queen of the 7 kingdoms, and I wish to speak with Yara” she said confidently. No one said anything, probably because they feared Drogon. A small group of people ran off the beach to fetch Yara. Not much time passed before Yara walks down to greet Dany. They shake hands at first, but glad to see that they’re both okay, pull each other into a hug. “Welcome to the Iron Islands, Dragon Queen” Yara said. “Is there a place we can talk without all the eyes on us? I only have a few hours before I have to leave” says Dany. “Yeah, we’ll go up to my chambers” Yara responded, looking serious. She begins walking up to the castle and before Dany follows, she tells Drogon “Get some rest, we have an even longer flight soon.” Just like that, Drogon closes his eyes. Dany then turns to the men on the beach who still stood frozen and said “Can you fetch him some food? Some sheep or a few barrels of fish will do. I’ll pay you for whatever he eats.” The men nod and scurry off.

Dany and Yara arrive in Yara’s chambers. “So, what can I help my Queen with” Yara says. Dany response, “we are preparing to attack Kings Landing in less than a fortnight and I hear your Uncle has a massive fleet guarding the bay. I could use your help.” “There’s no way what remains of the Iron Fleet can take on what Euron has created. Plus, we just got the Islands back. My men have to stay here to prevent it from being taken again” said Yara. “I realize what’s at stake here. But if Cersei wins, Euron will come back to take what he thinks is his, and he can defeat you. If you help me win, the Iron Islands are indefinitely yours. I should also say, you will not be alone in the fight either. You will have help from the sky. Dragons can do a lot of damage very quickly, but I also need to protect them from the giant crossbows Qyburn has created. We’ll need an attack from above and on the water simultaneously” Dany said. Yara takes a sip of ale and says “Okay, you’re right. I bent my knee to you long ago. When you call, it is my duty to answer. We will prepare the ships and set sail in the morning. Will you stay for dinner?” “I can spare some time” Dany says with a smile. “We have a lot to catch up on.” They spent the next few hours talking about the Battle of Winterfell and remembering Theon. Dany tells Yara the heroic actions of Arya Stark and what a great fighter she is, “She sounds like quite a woman, I hope to meet her soon” Yara said, impressed. The Iron Born always admired great fighters, and Yara always admired great female fighters.

Dinner ends and Yara walks Dany back down to the beach. “I’m glad we are allies” Yara said. “We are more than that, we are friends too, I would like to think” Danys says amused. “Thank you for agreeing to come. I wish you safe travels and I’ll see you soon” she said. She grabs a coin bag and gives it to Yara and says “for feeding my dragon.” Yara accepts the coin and shakes Danys hand one last time and says “I hope this won’t be the last time you visit the Iron Islands.” Dany gets on Drogon and as he is about to take off, she yells “it won’t be!” and Dany goes off into the night as all the people on the islands gaze at her in amazement.

She tells Drogon “We’re going to Valyria.”

They ride day in and day out, only stopping when Drogon needed to rest. They were careful not to be spotted. When they landed, they were far from any road or town.

They just have to cross the Narrow Sea now. She knew once they got there, they were going to have to be extremely careful, as no one besides Jorah and Tyrion have made the journey through alive. The Stonemen take over Old Valyria and both her and Drogon need to make it out without getting touched or killed.

She sees what was once her ancestral home off in the distance. The Fourteen Flames catch her eye, that’s where she was heading. When the Doom of Valyria occurred, all fourteen volcanoes erupted at once and a fire so hot burned, it even killed dragons. The ancient Targaryens were known to have “the sight” and that’s why they left Valyria to settle on Dragonstone, they knew the Doom was coming. Daenerys has heard stories of this, of course, but never thought she’d have the ability. All she knew was that something has been telling her to come back here for weeks now and to enter the volcanos.

She flys overhead. It’s eerie. So quiet, you can hear your own breath, and each flap of Drogons wings sounds like an earthquake. She is drawn to one volcano in particular. She and Drogon stand at the top, and looking down, Dany sees nothing but darkness. “Alright, boy. Let’s go down.” Drogon dives deeper and deeper into the earth and Dany can feel it getting hotter and hotter. It feels so good. She can finally see something below them now. It’s glowing. Red, orange, and yellow. It’s lava. As they get closer, she can see there is a whole network of rooms and tunnels that sit maybe 50 feet above the lava pools. She lands with Drogon and she begins to explore. Drogon dives into the lava head first without warning. Taken by surprise, Dany watches. Drogon completely submerges himself. He is under for quite sometime, but right before Daenerys has the chance to panic, Drogon shoots out of the pool. He looks glorious. He is glowing in orange while lava drips off of him. He looks bigger and stronger. How is that possible? She walks over and touches him. His scales are as hard as metal. The extreme heat must have made Drogon completely indestructible. He lets out a loud roar that echoes throughout the volcano. A few moments go by and there are returning sounds. Drogon heads off in the direction of the noise and Dany follows. They walk for a few minutes into a wide open cavern. Dany couldn’t see where the ceiling was or where the walls ended. Another roar was heard but it wasn’t from Drogon.

There they were. Six dragons. Three of them were already the size of what Rhaegal is. The other three were flying around the cavern, but Dany could tell they were small–about the size of a grown man. “They must have been born recently” she thought. Then she hears a thought that wasn’t hers, “the bigger ones were born at the same time myself and my brothers were born, the smaller ones are new” Dany turns wide eyed to Drogon “did you just….speak to me?” She hears the voice again “yes, in a way. We’ve always had a telepathic connection but now my thoughts are your thoughts. The volcano holds ancient magic. The original Valyrians were sorcerers and enchanted this volcano. They worshipped it, because this was a home for the dragons. This is where Valyrian Steel weapons were created, including your own ancestral weapons, Dark Sister and Blackfyre.” “So can I only hear you while we are in this volcano?” Dany said. “No, the lava transformed me to better serve you. It made my skin impenetrable, made me grow to be the largest dragon in history, and gave me the ability to talk to you” Drogon said. “Could Rhaegal do what you just did? What about these dragons?” Dany responded. “For now, I am the only one. Rhaegal may be able to once his rider is accepted by the ancestors. The rest of the three heads will be able to for generations to come, as long as the Targaryen and Valyrian blood stays strong enough. These ones here might like making a home by the pools, but they wouldn’t live if they dived in. You’re the first head of the dragon in this lifetime, with Jon being the second and the Night King was the third. You chose me to ride, that’s the only reason why I was able to do what I did” he said. “How do you know all this?” Dany wondered. “Ancient magic is strong. And have you never heard that dragons are the smartest creatures?” Drogon says. Dany laughs. She can’t believe it. “Are you able to talk to them for me?” she asks Drogon. “Yes. But you are now of course, able to speak to all the dragons through me. Anything you ever want to say or demand, they’ll be listening. And I can tell you what they said, or show you what they’ve seen.” He makes a few grunts and snarls and they make the same sounds back. “They know you’re their mother and they have been waiting for you to come” Drogon translates. “They’re ready to go with you.” Dany climbs on Drogon’s back and all of them begin to fly out of the volcano. They soar over the remains of what was once a great city. Daenerys was once told that the towers all had open rooftops, and it was true. There was something else she felt like she needed to do before leaving Valyria. She was beginning to feel drawn to the castle that once lived the emperor, she was drawn to something inside and she had to get it. She directed Drogon to a tower on the castle. “Stay up here with the other three large dragons and guard the castle from any Stonemen. I need to go inside to get something. The smaller ones can come in with me” Dany said, and Drogon nodded. The smaller dragons walk on each side of her as she enters the castle.

Upon entering, her breath was taken away. Even in ruins, this castle was the most beautiful thing she has ever seen. There were ornate designs on the walls made out of gold and the floor was silver with a unique pattern on it. “Is this Valyrian Steel? This entire floor?” Dany said out loud. There were purple ceiling-to-floor curtains that hung on every window. Perfectly handcrafted furniture was still in tact. She was getting distracted from what she came down here to get when she heard Drogon and the other three dragons start attacking something. “Stonemen” Dany thought in a panic. She and the three dragons moved around the castle quickly until they ended up what appeared to be a Throne Room. At the end of the room, she saw a corpse sitting on the Valyrian Steel throne. The floor in here was covered in white marble. There were marble benches with purple cushions placed along the sides of the room, presumably for the court. There were purple tapestries decorating the ceiling. Everything was still in perfect condition. But Dany couldn’t focus on the beauty much longer. She knew what she came here for was on the corpse. It’s strange though, he wasn’t infected with the disease the Stonemen were. He was dead, but he was not decaying.

Her brother once told her that Emperor Aurion was one of the few Dragonlords that survived the Doom. When he and 30,000 men came back to reclaim the Freehold, no one ever saw them again. Dany assumes she just found his final resting place. She walks over to him and can see the Valyrian Steel crown on his head. There are amethysts encrusted all over the crown. She takes the crown off his head and slowly places it on hers. The corpse turns to dust. She feels different. All of a sudden her clothes begin to change. The outfit that the first Targaryen dragonlords wore are now on her body. There are flames on the sleeves and collar of the black fitted top. The pants were heavy, but fitted, and had flames going up the sides. She still hears the four dragons outside making noise, so she needs to head back. Climbing all the stairs up to the tower would take to long, and they could be in danger, so Dany decides to exit out of a large window in the Throne Room.

When she came outside, she saw a strange film between the castle walls and a few feet in front of her. She takes off the crown and the film disappears. Was this the magic Drogon was speaking of? Did Aurion put a spell over the castle to protect it from the Stonemen so he could live out his days in peace? Dany then noticed that the film only seemed to cover the Throne Room. “Perhaps it was to prevent the artifact from being contaminated? Maybe Aurion didn’t have enough time to protect the whole castle, and only enough time to make sure the crown was safe” she thought. She suddenly looks up and can see that Drogon and the others were spitting fire at hundreds of Stonemen from the sky. Some of them noticed Dany on the other end of the castle and start to run towards her. She looks at the three dragons that are with her and she climbs on one of their backs. They take off and fly back up towards the tower. Dany yells to Drogon “it’s time to leave! Now!” Just as she finished that sentence, at least 20 Stonemen come hurdling up the stairs. The three small dragons begin to spit fire towards them, but it’s not enough. Dany sees Drogon is closing in so she tells the three young ones to fly off. She didn’t want them to get touched. They were only a few inches from Dany when Drogon scoops Dany up with his claw and all eight of them are now safe in the sky.

“Back to Winterfell?” Drogon said.

“Wait. There is someone I want to visit before we go back. Last detour, I promise.”

Chapter 3 is coming next week. Stay tuned.

CHAPTER 1

It was the morning after the battle of Winterfell and everyone was in the dining hall exchanging stories and congratulations.

“A toast to Arya Stark for her bravery and for killing the Night King!” says Dany, as she is sitting head of the table alongside Jon, Tyrion, Sansa, Tormund, Grey Worm, and Missandei. There was an uproar of cheers and applause for the young Stark girl. Tormund stands up and says “and a toast to Jon for leading the army against the dead!” everyone stands up and raises their mugs to Jon and drinks. Dany stands there observing the love the Northmen and Freefolk have for Jon. Could she ever have that from them? Jon begins to speak, regaining Dany’s attention. “To my Queen, Daenerys of House Targaryen, Mother of Dragons, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains and so many other titles” Dany smiles as Jon continues “thank you for your army that you brought to Westeros and sacrificed so we could all work together to fight for the living. Thank you for saving me when I was in a field surrounded. I would be dead if you didn’t come back to my aid. We would all be dead if it weren’t for your help.” Jon raises his mug to Dany and locks eyes with her. They both felt as if they were the only ones in the room. There was a loud applause for Dany. While the Northmen and Freefolk were still unsure of the Queen, they were not dumb. They realize she gave up a lot to save them, and she did accomplish a lot to get to where she was now. If they didn’t love her yet, they did respect her.

Dany felt like all her pain and losses she endured on this journey were finally worth it for this moment. She looks at Jon one last time before she begins speaking and he gives her a shy smile. “Thank you for your support. Now, we have one more war to win! It’s time to end the usurpers reign once and for all!” The hall shakes with cheers. If anything, the Northmen hate Cersei for what she did to Ned Stark and his family over the years. Dany continues “We will begin planning the attack on Kings Landing immediately and will leave in a fortnight. In the meantime, let’s help each other rebuild homes and the castle walls. See Sansa for tasks and direction.” Dany then whispers in Jon’s ear “meet me in my chambers after dinner” and Jon nods in agreement.

Later that night, Dany hears a knock on her door. Eager, she quickly goes to the door to greet him. “I’m glad you came. I want to talk to you about our conversation we had before the battle began.” She gestures Jon to sit down and pours some wine for the both of them. Jon looking unsure states, “Dany, I don’t want the Throne. You have been working towards this your entire life. You’ve gained tens of thousands of followers who adore you. You have created an impossible army. Conquered Dragons Bay. I want you to take it. You have earned it. It is rightfully yours.”

“But what if people find out that you’re name is Aegon Targaryen?” says Dany. “What would they do? People love you here, they would demand for you to be King.” Jon, not knowing how else to comfort her, stands up and puts his arms around her and kisses her forehead. “You have to trust me, Dany” he said before he left the room.

Jon is feeling very conflicted because he now knows she is his Aunt. His father was her older brother. Keeping bloodlines within families was not something the Northmen were used to doing. He’s also hurt because he thought their relationship was more important than each other’s claim to the Throne. Jon goes to join the Freefolk in the courtyard to listen to all their crazy stories to get his mind off it.

Dany lays in bed wondering how life would be if Khal Drogo never died and wonders if the dead could talk, what would he tell her? Power was very important to the Khal, but the most important thing above all else was Dany. He wanted to do anything and everything for her. She was the moon of his life. They knew, way back then, as long as they had each other, they’d be alright. Outside her window, she hears Drogon make an affectionate growl. Dany sheds one tear and goes to sleep.

The next day Dany finds Jon riding Rhaegal above Winterfell—a sight that she will never get used to seeing. She thinks “Jon is a great man and the people love him. I love him.” She knew what she needed to do. She wasn’t prepared to lose another person she cared about. She seeks out Tyrion and tells him to call a council meeting at once.

Everyone of importance was there. Tyrion, Jon, Sansa, Arya, Bran, Tormund, Brienne, Varys, Grey Worm, Sam, and Missandei. Daenerys begins “This is a short meeting but an important one. Jon’s birthname is Aegon Targaryen, sixth of his name. His father was my brother, Rhaegar Targaryen, and his mother was Lyanna Stark. I want to rule because I know I can make the world a better place to live. I will not take it by force. Tyrion, I said this before and I still mean it. I will not be Queen of the ashes. I am Queen because the people chose me. I want to stay Queen because the people choose me.” The whole room is shocked. Jon is frozen. He can’t believe what she just did.

Sansa is the first to speak, “So does this make him King?” Dany takes a deep breath and says “if he wants it. Part of the reason why I have fought so long and hard was so a decent Targaryen could take their rightful place back on the Throne…” Jon interjects “My birthname might be Aegon Targaryen but I am Jon Snow. I was raised as the bastard son of Ned Stark of Winterfell. I am a Stark. I am Jon. I do not want to be anyone else. I do not want to sit on the Throne. I have never desired it. I haven’t earned it. It is yours” and he looks at Dany.

“But what if the people found out?” Sansa said. “They won’t find out” Jon snapped. “I trust that you will all respect my wishes and not say anything to anyone.”

Varys speaks next “I have always fought for the realm and I will continue to do so. That means I support the person who I think will best serve the people. I still support you, my Queen. You have proved time and time again that you are the best option. Especially after today, willing to give it up after all you have sacrificed for us. I choose you.”

”Thank you for your kind words, Varys” says Dany. Now she turns to Jon. “We could rule together. In fact, I want to rule together. We could get married.” Jon stands there, not knowing what to say. Tyrion senses the awkwardness and says “It would be a good match. It would be a marriage that units the entire country.” Sam says “the Targaryens have been marrying each other since the beginning of time. Nothing that hasn’t been done before. You two would make a great Queen and King.” Jon follows with “I- I don’t know. I have to think about it.” Jon still is surprised that she would do that for him but he still can’t shake the feeling of being her nephew. He storms out of the room, leaving Dany a bit hurt with his reaction, but she doesn’t let anyone notice.

“How is the planning coming along for the attack?” she says finally. Grey Worm speaks “Scouts have reported that Euron Greyjoy has a fleet so large it covers all of Blackwater Bay. There are more big crossbows, too. One on each ship and one every few feet on the city’s wall. Their main objective is to kill you, Drogon, and Rhaegal.” Dany says “We won’t let that happen. Did you find out anything about their strategy?” “No, my Queen. The Red Keep is heavily guarded. We cannot get anyone to sneak in and get close enough to Cersei to listen. We can only see what is happening on the outside.”

“Very well” said Dany. She continued “Sansa, I would like you to sit in on the war meetings from now on. I think the men can use your expertise here. You understand Cersei like no one else.” Sansa nods. “You are all dismissed, but can I have a word with you, Arya?” Dany says. “Of course, your Grace” answered Arya.

Everyone leaves the room besides Dany and Arya.

Dany says “Thank you again for killing the Night King. You really are the best warrior I have ever seen.” There was a brief pause. “I noticed your always watching my dragons, do you like them or are you scared of them?” she said in a humorous tone. “I’ve loved dragons ever since I was a little girl. My father would read me stories about them. I named my own direwolf Nymeria” said Arya. Happy to find common ground, Dany grins and says “maybe you’ll get to ride one someday.” “I would like that a lot, your Grace” Arya stated. “Is there something I could do for you, your Grace?” Amused, Dany says “please, call me Daenerys. Can you tell me more about your time in Braavos?”

Arya begins “I sailed over to Braavos after the Frays killed my family and Winterfell was taken. I trained to become no one and became a better fighter. I’d kill those whose names were given to the Many Faced God, and I could wear any face I needed to do so. I left when I realized I didn’t want to be no one. I wanted to be Arya Stark, so that is who I remained on being. Why do you ask?”

”I have a favor to request, and you’re the only one skilled enough and that I trust enough for this job. Go ahead of us to Kings Landing and spy on Cersei. Send me ravens on what you see and hear. To do this though, you’ll need to kill her hand, Qyburn, and steal his face. In return, after the war is done, I will give you anything you want as long as it’s in my power. If you agree” answered Dany.

It doesn’t take Arya very long to think of an answer “I’ll do it” she said. She wants to see Cersei dead just as much as Dany.

”You’ll have to leave tonight. Tell no one and stay safe” Dany says. They both smile at each other and before Arya leaves the room, Dany says one more thing “I really do love him.” Arya turned around and replied “I know. I think he loves you too.”

Later that afternoon, Dany was thinking about the story Ser Barristan told her before his death. He told her the people loved Rhaegar because he’d sing in the streets and donate his earnings to the less fortunate. She wasn’t much of a singer but she knew she could help in other ways to earn the trust of Sansa and the Northmen. Dany goes to seek Sansa and Tyrion.

“What does Winterfell need?” she asked. Tyrion appeared to be thinking and Sansa laughed. “Where do I begin? We need new walls, we need to repair the crypt and every other room in the castle, we need to house thousands of people, we need nurses to tend to the wounded…” Dany cuts her off. “My apologies. It is a lot, but what can I do right now to help?”

Tyrion chimes in “What Winterfell needs the most is money for materials and labor and most of all, food.” Dany thinks before responding “we can set up a new seaport on the Narrow Sea and send fishermen. There can be people who run routes every other day to bring in fish. We can fill barrels with sea water to keep the fish fresh on the journey and kill them once they arrive. We can set up small cabins along the way for the travelers. I am also willing to give Winterfell a carriage full of gold.” Sansa is taken back. Dany continues “we stole it from the Lannister’s after they invaded Highgarden. It is my understanding that Margaery was a good friend of yours, Sansa, and that you were to marry Loras. I am sure they would want you to have this money and do good with it.” Not knowing what to say, Sansa smiles and says “Thank you, your Grace.” “Call me Daenerys” Dany half smiled. “Lastly, I need you two to take my place. I will be gone for a few days. You are in charge until my return.”

“Where are you going?” Tyrion asked.

“I think we’re up against a bigger army than we think and I have to do something about those dragon killing machines. I trust your judgement. Keep everyone safe” Dany finishes.

She leaves the room and packs a few items in a bag, says goodbye to Rhaegal, climbs on Drogon, and rides off.

End of chapter 1. Chapter 2 will be up shortly.

Prologue

Hi. Welcome. My name, obviously, is Rachel. I’m in my mid twenties and I am from the best city is the US, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. I have two undergraduate degrees from the best undergrad school in the US, Lycoming College. You would maybe think I studied English or communication since, you know, I’m writing a blog in my spare time,  but nope. I have a BS in physics and a BA in astronomy. I am not a writer. I suck at communicating with people. I’m not going to write like a writer. Some of you may cringe at my sentence structure, but whatever.

Not here for anything specific. Maybe talk about life and write some fun short stories.
